Beliefs & Values

The basis for everything we say and do rests upon the Scriptures. Here is a summary of our doctrinal beliefs.

The Scriptures

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our daily lives.

We believe in one eternal God Who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three persons—God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. He is absolutely holy, totally loving, and infinitely powerful.

We believe that all people are created in the image of God with intrinsic dignity and worth. God created people to enjoy a relationship with Himself, but this relationship has been broken because of our sin.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only One Who can restore our relationship with God. Through the miracle of the virgin birth, He came to Earth as the perfect God-man. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross in our place, and rose from the grave, proving His power over sin and death. In order to be saved from our sin, we must repent (turn from sin) and put our full trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior.

The Church

We believe that the church includes all those who have been restored to God through salvation. Jesus is the Head of the church, and we are His family here on Earth. The Church’s purpose is to bring glory to God and to serve Him and others, using the individual gifts and abilities He has supplied to each of us.

The Future

We believe that Jesus Christ will return to Earth in person as He promised. Our future destination of either Heaven or Hell is determined by our response to Him.

We summarize our values as a church in a three-fold way.

God has ordained His church to be the vehicle for His work. We have chosen to submit to His leading in our lives rather than our own self-centeredness. At Central, you will not find ministries that are centered upon man, but centered upon God...His desires, His will, His wishes.

The Word of God is inexhaustible and infallible. We believe in the fundamental fact that we must have truth, and that truth sets us free. That truth is found in the inerrant Word of God. From the pew, the classroom, and the pulpit, our membership is driven by the Word of God as our guide and the truth of God as our only hope.

God created us for His good pleasure and he called the believer to reach His creation with the Gospel, building up his converted believers through the edification of His Word. Therefore, Central Baptist Church’s sole purpose is the evangelism of the world and the edification of the saints for the exaltation of the Savior.

“We will not tire, we will not rest until all the world has known the truth of God’s saving grace.”—Bruce Barton, Senior Pastor
