He is GREATER
GREATER THAN OUR FAITH ~ GREATER THAN OUR FINANCES
Discovering God's greatness for present needs and future dreams
THE PURPOSE OF THE "He is GREATER" Emphasis is to:
- Connect as a Church Family through fellowship
- Worship God through giving through sacrifice
- Provide for God's work through service
- Envision the future through master-planning Centrals properties
THE PREPARATION OF THE "He is GREATER" Emphasis is by each person participating in:
40 Days of Prayer and Fasting - January 13-February 24 - Pastor has called for the people to fast for two or more days within this period, specifically praying for God's Hand on Central Baptist and the Pastor as he leads us.
Dinner Series - Saturday evenings in February and March - Pastor Barton and his wife, Donna, are hosting small intimate dinners at Holiday Inn to share their vision of how the call of God and the concept came about in Pastor's life and heart, and steps in the construction of the idea toward the Master Plan.
Missions Revival - March 8-12 - This is the time we pray that God will renew our passion, deepen our devotion, and strengthen our lives through a powerful 4-day emphasis with Dr. Bud Calvert, Fairfax, Virginia, and four perspective missionary families.
THE PICTURE OF THE "He is GREATER" Emphasis is by:
Precious Memories - April and May - Pastor's sermon series will be honoring great men and women from the past, so we may learn from their work and faith. Also completing in this timeframe is pictorial directory that will include the school families as well as the church families.
Summer Activities and Ministry - June will see us put on a Father's Day Block Party even bigger than our 500-guest event last year! This coupled with Vacation Bible School will truly reach out in the community. Our Student Ministry will return to The Wilds camp June 30-July 4.
Monday Night Outreach - Each Monday evening at 6:30, we will meet for church-wide canvassing and soul-winning. Both new and experienced folks are wanted.
Super Summer Sunday - August 10 - The culmination of our efforts to reach 500 in attendance!
THE PROSPERITY OF THE "He is GREATER" Emphasis is seen by:
Country Harvest Days - Beginning with an Open House Sunday, October 5, we will throw open Central's doors for the community to come and see what our church and the Christian life is all about.
On October 12, Harvest Sunday, we'll have one of the largest pumpkin patches in Panama City for kids to pick a pumpkins and visitors to hear the Gospel.
Round-Up Sunday, October 19, we'll truly go western with pony rides and chuck wagon dinner on the lawn. Former Pastor Milton Ker will be our guest. Finally on October 26, Missions Sunday, will be a reminder of our missions needs by hearing Keith Brock (PCCS alumni), missionary to Peru.
The Capital Improvement Plan will be launched as a result of architectural, engineering and topographical studies and designs. Our first improvement will be to our roof, parking lots, and lighted areas.
THE PRAISE OF THE "He is GREATER" Emphasis will be at:
Bay County Thanksgiving Service - November 25 - For the second time, community leaders, area Baptist pastors, and our community will join us in praise and worship in a wonderful service.
Christmas Festival - December 12-13 - Featuring the combined talents of Central Baptist and Panama City Christian School choirs and orchestras, and the drama department, this first-class ministry performance will soundly give the Christmas message.
No Room Sunday - December 21 - The result of living by faith and knowing He is GREATER, and participating in Central's soul-winning and community outreach, we will work to reach our largest attendance in 10 years - every class filled, every seat in choir and orchestra filled, every parking spot filled, every auditorium pew filled! Each child attending will receive a wrapped Christmas gift.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion - December 24 - what more honoring and worshipful way to celebrate the close of a great year than to be with family and friends for wonderful music, a message from the Word of God, a reflection of 2008 by video, and Christmas words from the Barton family.
He is GREATER is all about trusting God for everything; it is a time to walk trusting God, stepping out on faith. Won't you take this journey with the Central family? In 2008, let us together prove He is GREATER ~ greater than our faith ~ greater than our finances.
